Hungerford RFC Update Dec 2020
it is great to be able to send a club update with some good news. As you are probably aware, the RFU have been given approval for 15-a-side contact rugby for grassroots level matches from 18th December. More details can be found at:
and I am sure your team managers will be in touch with more information. Thanks to all members for sticking with the club through these difficult times and let's look forward to seeing some rugby.
During the last lockdown we also managed to complete the sanding and vertidraining of pitches 1 and 3 and the verti-draining only of pitch 2. This was a major investment but should significantly improve the quality of the pitches over time. Many thanks to the RFU and Greenham Common Trust for the grants to make this work possible.
We have also had some role changes in the Whole Club Committee. Due to work committments I have had to reduce my role at the club and I am delighted to say that Andy Sparkes, who is currently the Senior club chair, has been co-opted to also pick up the role of whole club chair from me. I will formally take up the position of club membership secretary. We have also created positions of PR Officer, Health and Safety Officer and Volunteer co-ordinator. Steve Mills has been co-opted as PR Officer (thanks Steve) and we are looking for volunteers for the other two roles. Please contact myself or Andy if you are interested.
We look forward to seeing you all back at training, starting tomorrow for the Juniors and Seniors Tuesday. The following rules and guidelines need to be observed until further notice
- the Bar is not open
- Entry to the clubhouse should be restricted to using toilets only
- Please observe the rule of six when mixing outdoors
