The Hurricanes took a trip east down the M4 to play Maidenhead in the semi final of the Berkshire Youth Cup under clear sunny skies on their fast Astro surface.
After a few early jitters and some hesitant tackling the Hurricanes took control through a strong and dominant carry from our outside centre Max Bartholomew, for the first of his four tries of the match. Max has now amassed 12 tries in his cup run.
The scrum was solid the whole game and the backs combined well to take a commanding 0-25 lead at the break with captain and inside centre Oscar McBride adding to his tally.
Maidenhead put in a spirited come back in the second half with two tries but a solid defence kept their comeback to just the two. A looping run from wing Henry Fort to dot down, then Oscar running straight put the score his second for 10-35.
Finally a forward got on the scoresheet with Lukas Hough running in from a 5m tap and run, to finish the game 40-10.
This was a whole team performance with total commitment from the boys meaning we are now in the final of the cup on the 6th April against Reading RFC, hosted by Hungerford RFC.
