Tracy Cox has been a massive asset to Hungerford Rugby Club over the past 17 years, having only just relinquished her role as Juniors Chair. We want to thank her for the many years of service she has given.
Her involvement started with the club back in the early 2000’s, even before the clubhouse was built.
Tracy’s husband, Rob started the Juniors section of the club in 2007 and she created the committee with him. She was one of our very first U6s coach, supporting the minis section for many years and coaching hundreds of children.
The Primary Schools Tournament, which had been established by Jeremey Smeddle, soon became part of her remit. This is such an important part of what we offer at the club, giving access to rugby to so many children.
After a few seasons on the committee, she took over as Juniors Treasurer and since then has worn many hats including the often-challenging Safeguarding role. In 2019 took on the role as Juniors Chair, staying in this position until her retirement in 2024. She hasn’t left the committee entirely, continuing in an advisory capacity.
In addition to her many roles within the club, Tracy has been a steadfast advocate for Hungerford Rugby Club juniors at the county level. Her work ensured our voice was heard among larger clubs, consistently representing our interests and championing the needs of our players.
Both of Tracy’s children played at the club. Her son, Will played right up to Colts and Carys was a keen club member from U9s to U12s, when she had to move to a club which offered girls rugby. Carys Cox is a Welsh international centre and wing who signed for Trailfinders Women from Worcerster Warriors. Tracy has been one of the driving forces behind bringing girls rugby to Hungerford rugby club.
Tracy leaves behind an incredible legacy that will be felt for years to come. Her dedication and passion have helped shape the club into what it is today. She has been an inspiration to both players and fellow committee members alike. Tracy's leadership, vision, and tireless commitment to promoting inclusivity and growth within the club will be greatly missed. We are incredibly grateful for her contributions and know that her impact will continue to inspire the club's future endeavours.
